St. Mary Elementary is excited to announce our new fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Diana Kinkelaar.  Mrs. Kinkelaar and her family are new to Paducah, but in many ways joining the St. Mary faculty will feel very familiar to her.  Mrs. Kinkelaar grew up in Effingham, Indiana and attended Catholic school from 1st grade until she graduated from St. Anthony High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degrees in both business and music before receiving her Master’s in Elementary Education and ESL.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Mrs. Kinkelaar’s caliber to add to our strong elementary faculty.  She has a wealth of knowledge and ideas that will not only benefit our 4th graders but our entire elementary school,” said Lisa Clark, elementary principal.

Mrs. Kinkelaar brings with her 11 years of teaching experience, and many of those years were spent teaching fourth grade. However, she has been preparing to teach for most of her life. She is a fourth-generation teacher, and she recalls spending many hours helping her mother grade papers and preparing her classrooms as she was growing up.  Ultimately, she also found her calling as a teacher and has made her career teaching in Catholic or private schools.

Mrs. Kinkelaar understands how important a teacher is in helping students not only learn, but also understand themselves.  She says, “I work hard to promote respect of differences in my classroom.  God made each of us different, and I want to know what makes each of my students unique.”
